Senate Commerce panel approves bills on cyber competitions, spectrum study

The Senate Commerce Committee advanced legislation on Wednesday to set up cyber competitions led by the National Institute of Standards and Technology focused on resiliency, training and emerging tech.

The bill, S. 3712, was approved by voice vote and is based on recommendations from the 2018 Cybersecurity Moonshot Initiative by the President’s National Security Telecommunications Advisory Committee. Providing funding for cyber competitions under the Cybersecurity Moonshot program is a recommendation in the Cyberspace Solarium Commission report released in March....
