White House convenes international ransomware summit with commitment to address payments, building info-sharing capabilities

The Biden administration hosted the third annual Countering Ransomware Initiative this week where international partners made commitments to not pay ransoms in a joint statement and undertake efforts to bolster their information sharing efforts.

“This year’s convening of the CRI focused on launching capabilities to disrupt attackers and the infrastructure they use to conduct their attacks, improving cybersecurity through sharing information; and fighting back against ransomware actors,” according to a White House fact sheet.
