Trump budget would cut nearly $6 million from NIST cybersecurity activities

The Trump administration is proposing to cut $5.9 million from the National Institute of Standards and Technology's cybersecurity activities, as part of an overall reduction in spending for the agency's laboratories that NIST says will require it to focus on “core” cyber activities.

The bulk of the reduced spending on cybersecurity would come from the elimination of NIST’s “trusted identities” program, with the bulk of that work to continue at the National Cybersecurity Center of Excellence.
