Trump administration revises post-quantum cryptography taskings in new cyber EO

The Trump administration is cutting down on agency responsibilities for protecting federal systems against quantum-enabled cyber attacks, as part of a June 6 executive order that selectively strikes some elements from former President Biden’s January cyber EO.

Biden’s Jan. 16 EO included a section on post-quantum cryptography that accelerated a 2035 implementation deadline for implementing quantum-safe encryption, calling on agencies to adopt PQC “as soon as practicable.”
