Transportation chief announces updated guidance on cybersecurity for self-driving cars

The Transportation Department's approach to addressing safety, privacy, and cybersecurity in self-driving vehicles is aimed at “encouraging innovation and preserving creativity,” Secretary Elaine Chao said today in releasing an updated federal policy on the issue.

Chao at an autonomous vehicle event in Ann Arbor, MI, announced the release of “A Vision for Safety 2.0,” a voluntary document on self-driving cars that offers automakers a guide for ensuring safety, security, and privacy in the design of self-driving vehicles.
