Stakeholders: Creation of cyber statistics bureau critical to provide full picture for detailed analysis

Creating a Bureau of Cyber Statistics is necessary to provide a wider view of trends beyond cyber crime, according to stakeholders, who argue that more data is needed to evaluate effectiveness of commonly used best practices.

Measurement is important “to make effective decisions,” former DHS cyber leader Phil Reitinger said at a Wednesday event. He said the bureau’s “biggest mission” should be “the collection of possible indicators that matter.”
