Sources: White House picks top NSA hacker to be cybersecurity coordinator

The White House has selected Rob Joyce, the National Security Agency's top hacker, to serve as the administration's cybersecurity coordinator, according to sources.

White House officials have announced internally that Joyce – who heads the NSA's Office of Tailored Access Operations, the agency's cyber warfare intelligence arm – will be the president's cybersecurity coordinator, a source told Inside Cybersecurity.

A congressional source said the administration has not informed key lawmakers of Joyce's selection, and could not confirm his appointment.
