Senate panel advances Plankey nomination for CISA director to floor, while Wyden’s hold remains in place

The Senate Homeland Security Committee has approved in a 9-6 vote the nomination of Sean Plankey to serve as the next director of the Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Security Agency, moving forward a key individual in the Trump administration’s cybersecurity policy team while questions linger over timing for consideration on the Senate floor.

The July 30 vote follows a June 24 confirmation hearing for Plankey where the nominee faced questions on the reauthorization of the Cybersecurity Information Sharing Act...
