Senate Energy panel ranking member calls for increased DOE cybersecurity role

Senate Energy and Natural Resources Committee ranking member Maria Cantwell (D-WA) is urging the Trump administration to elevate the role of the Energy Department on cybersecurity matters, in response to what the senator says are increased threats to the electricity grid from Russia and other foreign adversaries.

Cantwell told Inside Cybersecurity Tuesday that she is planning to send a letter to President Trump requesting the administration designate the Energy Department as a leader on cybersecurity issues.
