Presidential advisory group backs industry standards to mitigate 'botnet' threats

The National Security Telecommunications Advisory Committee has approved a report to the president on “botnet” cyber threats which offers a number of policy recommendations, including industry standards, in response to President Trump's cybersecurity executive order

The NSTAC unanimously approved the report Thursday during a conference call meeting.

The report -- “NSTAC Report to the President on Internet and Communications Resilience” -- calls on industry to implement cybersecurity standards to mitigate botnet threats, and urges federal agencies to help oversee...
