Pipeline groups see opportunity to harmonize upcoming Coast Guard cyber rules with TSA security directives

A coalition of pipeline groups is urging the Coast Guard to leverage work conducted through the Transportation Security Administration on security directives, as the maritime agency works to develop cyber regulations for U.S. ports.

“Generally, Commenters advise the Coast Guard to take a risk and performance based, rather than a prescriptive approach, to cyber security measures,” the coalition says in May 22 comments on a Coast Guard notice of proposed rulemaking.
