Pipeline groups call for eliminating aviation sector alignment in TSA proposed cyber rule

The Transportation Security Administration should abandon its goal of aligning proposed cyber requirements for surface transportation entities with processes used in the aviation sector, according to a coalition of pipeline sector groups.

“While the associations understand TSA’s intent to streamline the regulatory process within its own agency, there is no security benefit or utility to surface transportation by aligning their requirements with aviation,” the pipeline coalition says in a Feb. 5 filing to TSA.
