Perry faces major cybersecurity challenges in taking reins as DOE secretary

Former Texas Gov. Rick Perry, if confirmed as the next secretary of Energy, will inherit a department that faces major challenges on cybersecurity based on evolving and emerging threats, as well as pressures for modernizing the electricity grid and ongoing market changes that present new vulnerabilities, according a wide-ranging review of the electricity system released by DOE in the final weeks of the Obama administration.
