Nuclear industry, state governments clash over cyber regs for decommissioning plants

The nuclear power sector is recommending that the Nuclear Regulatory Commission not impose its cybersecurity rules on nuclear facilities that are ceasing operations, in comments on a draft regulatory plan, while state governments argue that some cyber requirements must remain in place even when facilities are decommissioned.

The Nuclear Energy Institute, which represents the nuclear sector, wrote in comments submitted to NRC in March that the cybersecurity rules imposed on nuclear facilities in 2009 should not apply to decommissioning...
