NRC scraps cybersecurity rulemaking for radioactive materials used by healthcare facilities

The Nuclear Regulatory Commission has decided to terminate developing cybersecurity regulations for healthcare and other facilities that handle radioactive materials, instead opting for notices to specific facilities offering advice on managing data risks.

These notices “will provide licensees with a better understanding of contemporary cyber security issues and strategies to protect digital assets (e.g., computers, digital alarm systems), including those used to facilitate compliance with physical security requirements,” according to a Federal Register notice issued by the NRC this...
