NIST draft recommends cybersecurity controls for ‘high-performance computing systems’

The National Institute of Standards and Technology has published draft guidance on safeguarding “high-performance computing systems” against cyber threats through applying a set of security controls from the massive catalog in NIST Special Publication 800-53.

“High-performance computing (HPC) systems provide fundamental computing infrastructure for large-scale artificial intelligence (AI) and machine learning (ML) model training, big data analysis, and complex simulations at exceptional speeds,” NIST says in a May 1 announcement on the draft.
