NIST delays release of landmark update to privacy, security guides amid internal reviews

The National Institute of Standards and Technology has delayed release of the fifth revision of its security and privacy controls guidance document, an update intended to encourage greater use by industry and other non-federal organizations.

The revised guidance document, NIST Special Publication 800-53, was initially intended for release last week, but the agency has announced that it's still “undergoing internal review” and will be released “in the very near future.”
