National Security Council launches efforts to create mandatory cyber, resilience standards across critical infrastructure

Efforts are underway to develop minimum cybersecurity and resilience standards across critical infrastructure under a major national security memorandum that is reshaping how the federal government manages risks to critical services, according to National Security Council official Caitlin Durkovich.

Cyber attacks on critical infrastructure are typically “opportunistic” and occur when adversaries “find the weakest link in our systems and use that vulnerability to cause disruption,” Durkovich said in a Monday webinar on cyber-physical resilience hosted by Aspen Digital.
