Lawyers warn of expanded data-breach enforcements by states to address operational impacts

State data-breach enforcement actions are expected to be more expansive in the coming year --  addressing the operational impacts of a cyber event as well as the information affected, according to lawyers who see regulators in California and New York leading this charge.

The assessment is part of a “Breach Notification Roundup” by lawyers at the firm Alston & Bird who examine recent regulatory and enforcement trends in the United States and Europe.
