Inspector general report cites major shortcomings in Energy Dept. cybersecurity

The Department of Energy's inspector general has found major “weaknesses” in the department's cybersecurity efforts -- including by the DOE chief information officer responsible for ensuring data protections -- following an investigation prompted by a supply-chain vulnerability tip.

“We found the Department had not fully managed cybersecurity for selected Headquarters information systems in accordance with Federal and Department requirements,” according to the DOE Office of Inspector General report issued last week.
