House panel approves bills to boost cyber efforts at NTIA through increased coordination, awareness campaigns

A House Energy and Commerce subcommittee has approved several bills giving the National Telecommunications and Information Administration new responsibilities around cybersecurity, including increased coordination at the policy level and a study on “trusted vendors” in the ICT supply chain.

The eight bills under consideration are intended “further secure our communications networks and address cybersecurity issues in U.S. networks,” full committee Chairwoman Cathy McMorris Rodgers (R-WA) said at the start of the Wednesday Energy and Commerce communications and technology subcommittee markup....
