Google Cloud report emphasizes importance of strong access credentials for securing networks

Over half of cloud compromises in the second quarter of 2023 were a result of weak access credentials, according to a new report from Google Cloud.

“Weak credentials continue to represent the largest compromises where many observed instances were a result of attackers brute forcing default accounts, Secure Shell (SSH), and the Remote Desktop Protocol (RDP),” Google writes in a quarterly threat report released on Thursday.
