FCC plans to seek comment on potential incentives program for securing IoT devices

The Federal Communications Commission will vote on a notice of inquiry in June to gather input from industry on how the agency could provide incentives to boost adoption of cybersecurity best practices for Internet of Things devices.

The FCC’s latest notice of inquiry will ask how the “Commission can leverage its equipment authorization program to encourage manufacturers who are building devices that will connect to U.S. networks to consider cybersecurity standards and guidelines,” according to a FCC sheet.
