FCC Chairwoman Rosenworcel proposes finalizing cyber rules for emergency alert systems

FCC Chairwoman Jessica Rosenworcel has circulated a proposal to finalize cyber requirements for emergency alert system participants focused on boosting the security of their operations.

“The Emergency Alert System delivers warnings to the public through radio and television. Wireless Emergency Alerts deliver warnings to consumers’ wireless phones. If adopted by a vote of the full Commission, the draft rules would require communications providers that participate in these systems to create, update, and implement cybersecurity risk management plans,” the FCC said...
