FCC advisory council proposes federal incentives for addressing supply chain risk in 5G network deployments

A new advisory panel report on 5G virtualization urges the FCC to work with federal partners on incentives to encourage operators that deploy fifth-generation networks to address supply chain risks.

The move to 5G has a transformational impact on operators’ move from using proprietary systems to a “virtualized/cloudified environment” and brings on new security risks calling for an “adequate policy intervention to ensure a predictable, secure, diverse, and vibrant ecosystem whilst maximizing the trust and security of the network,” ...
