CISA’s Conley: AI plays significant role in scale of disinformation efforts but not ‘game-changer’ for election security

The widespread availability of generative artificial intelligence is increasing the scale and sophistication of online foreign malign influence activity compared to previous election cycles but is not to blame for creating any new security concerns, according to CISA senior advisor Cait Conley, who briefed reporters tonight as polls started to close across the nation.
