Regulators to examine 'voluntary' approach to cybersecurity

The Interagency Cybersecurity Forum for Independent and Executive Branch Agencies will meet April 21 for a meeting to discuss voluntary mechanisms for cybersecurity, according to a spokesman from the Nuclear Regulatory Commission, which chairs the forum.

Officials from the regulatory agencies will hear from “outside experts” on various voluntary mechanisms incorporated into third-party cybersecurity guidance, and will review existing standards and frameworks, as well as the “nexus between self-regulatory approaches and regulations,” the NRC spokesman told Inside Cybersecurity.
