Navy sets tough cybersecurity requirements following Chinese hack

The Navy is imposing more rigorous cybersecurity requirements on contractors to protect programs and technologies it deems "critical" following an incident earlier this year in which Chinese hackers reportedly stole sensitive submarine warfare data from a Navy contractor.

The Navy's new requirements call for stricter enforcement of a current Defense Federal Acquisition Regulation Supplement clause for protecting sensitive data, but it also goes beyond those requirements in prescribing how contractors should defend government information on their networks.
