House panel readies bill designating NCCIC as 'lead' on federal efforts to secure industrial control systems

A bill due to be marked up by the House Homeland Security Committee on Wednesday would direct the Department of Homeland Security's National Cybersecurity and Communications Integration Center to “lead federal government efforts” on mitigating cybersecurity threats to industrial control systems.

H.R. 5733, the DHS Industrial Control Systems Capabilities Enhancement Act, was introduced by Rep. Don Bacon last week, with Homeland Security Chairman Michael McCaul (R-TX) and cybersecurity subcommittee Chairman John Ratcliffe (R-TX) as cosponsors. The bill's text was...
