Commerce Dept. working to upgrade cyber systems in preparation for 2020 census

The Department of Commerce is upgrading its cybersecurity in many areas, particularly in preparation for the 2020 census, according to Acting Chief Information Security Officer Rod Turk.

Turk said Thursday the department is “in specific areas leaning forward” in terms of cyber modernization, with 35 percent of the “millions, billions” the department spends each year on IT issues going toward development.
