California attorney general offers cyber best practices for small businesses

California Attorney General Kamala Harris has released a report outlining cybersecurity “best practices” for small businesses, a move intended to further the state's position as a leader in setting data-protection standards.

The report, issued in February, is intended to provide a baseline for cybersecurity by small and medium-sized businesses that lack the resources for full-time data-security teams, according to Harris.

“Relatively small investments in cybersecurity preparedness can yield significant risk reductions,” it states.
