Auto industry seeks greater flexibility, clarity in self-driving car security standards

The automotive industry is urging federal regulators to make sure new cybersecurity guidance for autonomous vehicles is clear for federal, state, and local policymakers, and calling for a flexible approach that allows manufacturers to select their own “specific countermeasures” to deter cyber attacks on self-driving cars.
