NHTSA begins developing guidelines for self-driving cars

Federal automotive industry regulators are moving forward with developing guidance on autonomous vehicles, addressing cybersecurity and safety concerns, as states stake a claim in regulating self-driving cars as well.

The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration will kick off its guidance-writing process next month, according to the agency, hosting a public meeting on April 8 aimed at gaining feedback from industry stakeholders on what type of guidance should be offered by the regulators.
