Commerce Dept. launches new initiative on Internet of Things cybersecurity

The Commerce Department's National Telecommunications and Information Administration announced today a new initiative to develop guidelines to promote consumer understanding of cybersecurity patches and upgrades for Internet of Things devices.

In a blog post by Angela Simpson, deputy assistant secretary for communications and information, the department cited concerns raised in a broader IoT “multistakeholder” process NTIA is leading.
