Cybersecurity gets boost in White House budget with new positions, privacy council
The Obama administration today will unveil a fiscal 2017 budget that contains $19 billion for cybersecurity efforts -- $5 billion over last year's proposal -- as part of a "national action plan" that includes new high-level commissions on long-range cyber issues and privacy protections.
The plan also includes creation of a new position -- federal chief information security officer -- and a public-private partnership to promote cybersecurity awareness.
