U.S., Japanese forces bolster cybersecurity ties

The United States and Japan have agreed to strengthen cooperation in cyberspace and space, according to U.S. and Japanese defense chiefs.

Defense Secretary Ashton Carter and Japanese Defense Minister Gen Nakatani discussed the tighter ties Wednesday at a joint press conference in Japan.

New guidelines "will transform the U.S.-Japan alliance, expanding opportunities for the U.S. armed forces and the Japan Self-Defense Forces to cooperate seamlessly," Carter said.
