State officials: DHS focusing on services, not mandates, to help protect election system

The Department of Homeland Security is uninterested in establishing an oversight or regulatory role in protecting the electoral system from cyber attacks, according to multiple state officials, who say DHS is instead offering up a variety of resources to help states as they work to secure voting systems from hacks and deter malicious actors.
