On digital privacy rules, FCC rejects industry request for comment extension

The Federal Communications Commission has rejected a request by an industry coalition for more time to respond to a proposed rule issued last month on privacy requirements for broadband Internet providers, which critics say would set a precedent for mandating data-security assessments and protections.
