FTC warns violators of Asia-Pacific rules seen as security model

The Federal Trade Commission sent warning letters to 28 companies last week that they may be in violation of the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation's Cross-Border Privacy Rules even though they claim to be certified under the international program.

FTC is telling the companies to prove their certification or remove the claim from their websites.
