Ponemon annual study on combating third-party cyber attacks

On September 27, 2017, the Ponemon Institute released a joint study titled “Data Risk in the Third-Party Ecosystem: Second Annual Study.” The study was co-sponsored by Opus, and found that 56 percent of surveyed companies had experienced data breaches from third parties. It also revealed that misuse of sensitive information taken during cyber attacks has increased in the past year. The study recommends evaluation of security and privacy practices of all third parties.
