Chairman Thompson expects court challenges to McAleenan’s authority as DHS acting secretary

House Homeland Security Chairman Bennie Thompson (D-MS) said Tuesday that he expects court challenges to Kevin McAleenan taking over as acting secretary of DHS instead of current Acting Deputy Secretary Claire Grady, adding that he was not “comfortable” discussing DHS’ budget at an upcoming hearing with an official whose “authority is in question.”
