HHS auditors seek industry input on meshing cybersecurity needs with HIPAA compliance

The Department of Health and Human Services' auditors are looking to get industry advice on measuring compliance with longstanding data privacy requirements while meeting new demands for defending against cyber attacks.

The proposal for industry input is laid out by the HHS Office for Civil Rights, which audits compliance by healthcare providers with requirements under the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act, in its latest budget proposal for fiscal 2019.
