Senate unanimously passes bill to establish 'bug bounty' cyber program at DHS

The Senate unanimously passed a bill this week to strengthen cyber defenses at the Department of Homeland Security through the establishment of a “bug bounty program” that would help identity vulnerabilities in DHS' networks and information systems.

The Hack DHS Act, cosponsored by Sens. Rob Portman (R-OH) and Maggie Hassan (D-NH), was passed by voice vote on Tuesday. The bug bounty program would be modeled off similar programs at the Department of Defense, and would involve bringing in “ethical”...
