EastWest Institute, NAS issue eagerly awaited reports on encryption policy

The EastWest Institute -- a nonpartisan international think tank including industry, academia and former senior government officials -- is recommending two policy options for resolving the long-running impasse between law enforcement and privacy advocates around encryption of consumer devices, both of which would likely require changes to law.
