Senate panel approves bill establishing vulnerability disclosure program at DHS

The Senate Homeland Security and Governmental Affairs Committee has waved through bipartisan legislation establishing a program for cybersecurity researchers to identify vulnerabilities on Department of Homeland Security computer systems and report them to DHS.

The panel approved by voice vote the Hack DHS Act -- a measure sponsored by Sens. Maggie Hassan (D-NH) and Rob Portman (R-OH) establishing a “bug bounty” program, modeled after similar programs at the Defense Department and tech companies, to “strengthen cyber defenses at DHS...
