Former State Dept. cyber coordinator says Tillerson plan 'downgrades' cybersecurity

The State Department's former top diplomat on cybersecurity says the Trump administration's recently unveiled plans for restructuring the department would “downgrade” the importance of the issue by moving the functions of his old office into the bureau responsible for economics and business.

“I hesitate to say anything bad” about the restructuring plan, Christopher Painter said in an interview with Inside Cybersecurity, while expressing concerns about the impact of “structural changes on resources” to ensure continued work in “confidence building measures”...
