FERC seeks greater role in Senate plan for securing grid from cyber attacks

An official from the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission is urging senators to revise proposed legislation on protecting the electricity grid from cyber attacks, to ensure the regulatory agency is part of the process for developing those policies.

Michael Bardee, director of FERC’s Office of Electric Reliability, told the Senate Energy Committee Tuesday that the Securing Energy Infrastructure Act should be amended to include FERC as a member of a proposed cybersecurity working group that would include other government agencies....
