Outgoing FTC consumer protection chief expects continued data-security actions

Jessica Rich, director of the Federal Trade Commission's Bureau of Consumer Protection, has announced she is leaving the commission but expects the FTC to remain an aggressive regulator for data privacy and security.

Rich “predicts the FTC will be very aggressive on regulating sensitive data, and expanding what's classified as such, in the future,” according to the International Association of Privacy Professionals in its summary of a Feb. 10 podcast with the departing bureau chief.
