Regulatory update: SEC extends deadline for cyber rule input; FTC offers more time for commenters on surveillance ANPR

The Securities and Exchange Commission is allowing an extra two weeks for stakeholders to weigh in on a hotly contested cybersecurity proposal after a technical glitch, while the Federal Trade Commission separately has extended the comment period on its proposal addressing commercial surveillance and data security.

The SEC’s March 23 proposal on cyber incident reporting, governance and risk management is on the list of regulatory proposals that may have been affected by a technical problem with the commission’s internet...
