Energy Dept. issues order prohibiting bulk power system equipment from China

The Energy Department will require utilities that serve critical defense facilities from using certain types of bulk power system equipment associated with the People’s Republic of China, under a new prohibition order issued Thursday.

Energy Secretary Dan Brouillette is using his authority provided under a May executive order focused on BPS security to make the determination, which will take effect on Jan. 16, 2021.
